The fact that you are reading this tells me you are interested in nutrition and you are keen to care for your body.
Firstly, thank you for taking time out of busy schedule to investigate how you can care for your health and wellbeing more effectively. I’m here to support you!
The aim of this article is to explain what you can expect when you visit me for the first time. During the initial visit, we will discuss what promoted you to make the appointment. There are many reasons patients decide to visit a dietician; it may be that you are managing a chronic disease, you may want advise on weight management, you may be training for a sporting event or you may simply want to diversify your diet. My first step is to define the objective. It may be worth you having a think about what you want from this appointment prior to your first visit.
After establishing your objectives, I will ask you about your current eating habits, what you enjoy eating, what has worked in the past and what foods you love. It is also worth noting any foods that you really don’t like!
I will then provide scientific evidenced-based information related to your needs.
My recommendations will be tailored to your individual requirements. I always like to provide my patients with goals which are Specific Measurable Achievable Relevant Time-bound (SMART). We can collaborate on these, and agree between us what we think is doable in the timeframe.
After our first consultation, I tend to follow up with an email containing relevant educational information and resources.
Most importantly, I will support your progress, and make myself available for follow-up discussions.
Together, we can work towards achieving your health goals!
